DESCRIPTION:

Autism is a Neurodevelopmental disorder affecting how a person perceives and interacts with the world. Autistic individuals experience difficulties in social communication and interaction, restricted and repetitive behaviors and sensory sensitivities.Autism spectrum disorders are developmental neurological conditions characterized byDelays in social interaction, Delays in the development of expressive and receptive language, Restrictive interests (television, computers), Repetitive or stereotypical behaviours (rocking, hand flapping), May have difficulty with the acquisition of motor skills.

GENERALLY AVAILABLE OPTIONS:Physiotherapy, behavioural therapy, medications

LIMITATIONS:There are no defined system of approach.  Each person’s approach is based on the unique set of characteristics presented with.  Restricted and repetitive interests, sensory processing differences and heightened anxiety are other issues.  Combination therapies are new and there not enough research based evidences available. However, alternative systems of medicines also known as Indian Systems of Medicines – Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) combined with Physical rehabilitation medicine can be of some help.
